William Shakespeare

Shakespeare, William (1564--1616), English poet, player and playwright. Baptized in the parish church of Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire on the 26th of April 1564. The exact date of his birth is not known. During his lifetime he authored almost 40 plays, over 150 sonnets, and two long narrative poems.
